miscegenation.

(source courtesy: Thinking Art - An introduction to the philosophy of art - Antoon Van Den Braembussche.)  "..the boy felt the powerful movement of the train beneath him and the lonely austerity and mystery of the dark earth outside that swept past forever with a fan-like stroke, an immortal and imperturbable stillness. it seemed to him that these two terrific negatives of speed and stillness, the hurtling and projectile movement of the train and the calm silence of the everlasting earth, were poles of a single unity - a unity coherent with his destiny, whose source was somehow in himself..." - Thomas Wolfe Of Time and the River miscegenation.  a word used by the voice-over of the narrator/creator in a great documentary; a new word whose meaning I did not know… as is my wont, I stopped the documentary, and looked the word up.. ah, what a fascinating word find, it turned out to be !? it is defined as the “interbreeding of/between different racial types”, more literally of different races of people. but that literal, specific sense – the societal, interbreeding of the human races - is not what so fascinated me, as of the underlying generic connotation to the *produce* - from interbreeding of “any two or more distinct entities” regardless of their specific category.. and i perceive this entire physical universe, of *phenomena* in the Kantian (Immanuel kant.1770) sense, to be a *manifest* necessarily of miscegenation, in its essential nature and formation.. interestingly, if the ‘reality’ is an ‘unity’, and if it has ‘manifested’ into the ‘many’ of the universe (or even multiverses not perceived or even projected by us) - not sure if per-se, but ‘found’ by/through perceptions - then its dynamic play is the endless *miscegenation* of & between these many, from their interbreeding through myriad ways…??? thus arises the question - is there any intrinsic sense or validity to the notion of *purity* meant as of being *unmixed* at all - be it in races, in genus, or species, or in families, all in the biological sense & terminology.. - *especially* in the higher order ? and then, it also connotes, not only a derivate *synthesis* of two dissimilar sources that interbred, but also as a ‘coalescence’ of those two, in the sense of their subsisting in a *composition* as a whole, even while co-existing in their *distinct* forms intact, as sub-sets, within this coalescence, either complementarily, or even conflictingly.. for example, a human being is as much a miscegenation of *good* and *evil* - of the *lofty* and the *base*, and so on – as in his/her biological sense of interbreeding genealogically.., as is, say, between a mongoloid and a caucasian and/or an afrikaans…. and we also see this as a process; the miscegenation, causing the mutation and the emergence of a *hybrid* that then settles down to a sub-genus class initially and later becomes a genus in itself, by it’s proliferation reaching sizes of its population becoming large enough to justify it, as well as in a loose sense of semantic licence.. but, than the external – biological, anthropological and sociological – manifestations of this miscegenation, what fascinates me more, as I said earlier, is the internal, within the person, miscegenation of distinct and disparate qualities, and their breath-taking consequences.. – that make the stuff of the magnificent human history, its awe-inspiring epics, and the breath-taking possibilities ahead.. oh, the splendour of human mind…! The tantalising, many-spangled splendorous  mystery that this creation is !! and, what a fine thing, a Word is – that can give a muse, to procreate all these above?!  How potent! No wonder that it is the prime suspect, as the Beginning of all of Creation. And how fortunate am I, to have (been) caught (by) it… ! :)
